With such a vast array of social media options available today, do you find it a real challenge to choose which one will work best for your business? From Twitter, Facebook and LinkedIn to name a few, which one will help you achieve better results, acquire more clients or meet with your marketing needs?

Do you run a B2B or B2C business? Recent findings suggest that Facebook is more effective for B2C business owners when acquiring new customers, compared to LinkedIn which gives a better ROI for B2B businesses.

Consider a consumer product such as a brand of honey. Via conventional methods of advertising such as television, magazines and radio mixed with social media such as Facebook, this B2C product can create instant impact. This helps to create more online followers plus a potentially higher level of sales in supermarkets and stores. Use of two streams to market this product is attractive to people of all ages; a positive for both brand awareness and business growth.

Why then is LinkedIn proving to be more effective for the B2B sector?

Let’s take a look at the types of industry who use LinkedIn as their social media tool of choice:
communications & media
banking/insurance/financial services
manufacturing
professional services & consulting
technology hardware

Is your business in one of the above sectors? Do you or do you plan to use social media as a marketing tool?

Before you do plunge headlong into unknown waters ask yourself:
Do you have a social media strategy?
Is social media included in your budget planning?
Do you plan to invest in your staff to make social media work for you?
Do you want to achieve better results via more customers?

Many organisations demonstrate a clear move toward focusing on inbound programs to market to their clients such as company blogs and email newsletters, as opposed to more traditional methods of direct mail, print advertising and telemarketing. More and more businesses are replacing ineffective and dated methods of marketing with the latest digital and highly affordable techniques. And the results are in: effective performance leading to greater profits from more customers.

LinkedIn is an important way to drive traffic to your site and improve your earnings; it is also one of the less expensive methods. With a great and well executed strategy, you can effectively use LinkedIn for business. The following are a few simple tips that can lead to impressive results.

1. Customize Your LinkedIn URL
For your LinkedIn profile to be found easily by search engines such as Google, you need to customize it. Avoid using the default URL which normally appears in the format:

www.country.linkedin.com/pub/your-name/linkedIn unique identifier

Instead of using it in this format, customize the URL to include the brand name of your business. To customize your LinkedIn URL, select “profile” and then “edit profile” from the drop down menu at the top of any of the pages in your profile. Click on “Edit” displayed next to the link listed on the line titled “public profile”. Next, click “edit” in the “public profile URL” section found at the top of your public profile page. This action expands the section that displays your existing URL and from here you can update the link. Enter the URL you would like though all custom URL’s begin with linkedIn.com/in/. Include your name/brand/tagline after the last trailing slash e.g. linkedIn.com/in/suzannecamille. Finally, click on “set address” and that’s it, you have a customized URL! In case, your preferred URL is already taken, keep trying until you find the URL of your choice. Also, set your profile to “Full view” so that your company details can be viewed by the general public without any need for someone to log in. Make sure you have a relevant keyword in your URL if you are a small company whose name is not easily recognizable.

2. Promote Your Profile
Your company details and employee contacts will be visible on your company profile. Therefore, people can find someone they can get in touch with to find out more about your company. Find ways of promoting your URL in marketing communications such as brochures, business cards, email and so on.

3. Make Use of Keywords
Use keywords that identify your specialty in the industry. For example if you run a local plumbing business in Adelaide, you would use keywords such as “Adelaide plumber”, “affordable Adelaide plumber” and similar variations. Using keywords in this manner optimizes your profile for search engines and resonates well with potential customers.

4. Establish Yourself as an Industry leader and Respected Source for Information
Update your profile page with fresh information on your industry to help it stay fresh. Doing this over a period of time helps to establish your reputation in the industry. You can do this easily if you link your LinkedIn profile page to your blog postings on your website.

5. Use a Profile Picture
Many people overlook this part. If you browse through many of the LinkedIn profiles, you will realize that many people and businesses do not use a profile picture. This is a branding opportunity lost. Use a profile picture preferably your logo. You can alternatively have a graphic designer superimpose your address details; tagline and phone number on your logo so that you have one image that incorporates everything.

Finally, do not forget to include your website link in your profile so that people can visit your site. It will also help search engines find your website and include it in their index.

While there appears to be much hype in the circles of on-line marketing about the power of Social Media, much of the attention in this regard seems to go to sites such as Facebook, Twitter and YouTube, and to a far lesser extent to LinkedIn.

What Is LinkedIn

What is LinkedIn?

Since its launch in 2003, LinkedIn has become the single largest professional networking site, having amassed over 85 million professional subscribers, and being accessed by over 1 million companies globally. While the site was originally setup to provide professionals with an on-line resume, LinkedIn has evolved into a far more sophisticated medium, for professional people and organisations to network, as well as to source and sell a vast range of products and services.

While the true power of LinkedIn has only really been capitalised by the recruitment industry to date, with over 36.5 million (and generally affluent) professionals logging onto LinkedIn each day, other industries and professional focus groups are starting to latch on to the site, as a fertile arena where they can network, promote their business, forge symbiotic partnerships, and most importantly sell their wares.

Top Tips on Using LinkedIn to Promote Your Business

How to Utilize LinkedIn to Develop Your Business

1. Your LinkedIn Profile

It’s always been said, that “people buy from people”, so the starting point with LinkedIn involves investing time and effort into building an on-line personal profile which will stand out in the crowd. It needs to be succinct, and avoid industry jargon. Your LinkedIn profile needs to clearly define what you do, and what your target market is (ie. profession, industry and geography), and what your USP is for your chosen market.

It’s also been said countless times that “people buy from people they trust”, so get your trusted contacts to provide you with Recommendations on LinkedIn, and don’t be afraid to help them draft the recommendation, so as to ensure that it portrays the exact proof points that you need it to.

To help you stand out in the crowd, also list your areas of expertise in a comma delimited list in the “Specialities” box – this is effectively LinkedIn’s equivalent to Google Keywords. Also list your website URL(s), so that interested parties can readily get more information, if they want it.

2. LinkedIn Groups and Answers

As per the previous quotes, “people also buy from people they have a relationship with” – after all, this is what social and professional networking is all about!

Within LinkedIn, there are thousands of Groups of professionals that are affiliated according to a common interest, profession, educational or professional establishment. LinkedIn will allow you to join up to 50 different groups, so pick them according to your specific niches, and observe and interact on the key topics which are being discussed within the relevant groups – this is where you can promote your profile, by expressing grounded opinions and helping others.

LinkedIn Answers provides access to the top discussions that are taking place across the LinkedIn network, so don’t be afraid to express opinions and offer advice on the Answer forums, thereby promoting yourself and your business as experts in the relevant field.

3. Targeting Your Audience on LinkedIn

While LinkedIn Groups and Answer forums provide an excellent way for promoting your products and/or expertise, the powerful Advanced Search engine on LinkedIn enables you to pin-point individual professionals, based on their seniority, profession, industry, geography etc, thereby enabling you to make direct approaches where necessary.

LinkedIn also has an advertising system called DirectAds, which operates in a similar manner to GoogleAds and Facebook adverts. Using DirectAds, you can set up a campaign of up to 15 different messages and logos, which can be targeted at your specific niche on a “pay per click” or “pay per 1,000 impressions”. Powerful analytics are available on DirectAds, which will enable you to identify adverts which are performing better or worse, thereby enabling you to tweek your advertising campaign as you go along. Personal experience on DirectAds would indicate that if your budget is tight, opt for the pay per click model and set a modest daily budget, above which you are not prepared to spend!

The Consumer Product Safety Commission estimates that 270 deaths and 1,330 injuries will be prevented every year once this mattress flammability standard is in place. While you can’t predict when or if a fire will occur in your home, you can prepare for it.

In addition to taking safety precautions, it’s also important to be sure you have insurance that will cover damages and/or injuries caused by smoke or fire. Following safety guidelines can reduce your risk factor, but they will not eliminate the possibility of the unexpected. Insurance is for the unexpected. Take time now to prepare for these unpredictable events.

Damages or injuries from fire or smoke can drain your bank account if you are not prepared. Thoroughly review your insurance policies to be sure you are covered for these perils.

If you haven’t done so, talk with your local insurance agent to consider your risk factor and discuss your insurance policy.

Buying a new leather sofa is a purchase that will pay for itself over the years, due to the fact that a well made leather sofa will last for a very long time. Because leather sofas are now in high demand you will want to do a little research before purchasing one to be sure you are getting a high grade leather at a decent price. Technology has allowed leather sofas to be made in more modern and efficient ways, so they are becoming more and more popular with consumers wishing to purchase a new sofa. Buying a leather sofa not only provides style but it also a very practical material to care for.

Leather is graded by the natural look it has, whether it contains many spots or blemishes, or if it is a virtually spot free piece which will make it even more desirable. Most leather sofas will have a few natural occurring blemishes but that’s part of the beauty of it. When you shop for a new leather sofa you will need to know what to look for as far as quality and price. You will want to purchase a top grain leather which is the part used from the outer surface of the hide. Although still a good product, leather taken from inner surfaces is called split grain leather and may prove to be somewhat weaker.

There are many types and grains of leather sofas available on the market, so doing research to find the highest grade will assist you in making your final choice for a new leather sofa. Full grain leather sofas are said to be the softest but are the highest in price. Top grain leather has a more uniform look and is one of the most popular types. Pigmented leather is the type most used when you want a specific color of leather sofa. It is somewhat stiffer then the other two grains of leather mentioned above, but offers a more scratch resistant surface. It also fades less quickly and resists stains. It is one of the most expensive types of leather sofa but you can find good bargains on it if you do check and compare prices.

Pure aniline leather is soaked in a dye and is one of the best quality leather grains available for leather sofas. Very good hides are used in this type of leather sofa. The quality of your leather sofa will depend on the grain of leather used to make it. The higher the grade, the softer it will be and the general quality will prove to be longer lasting.

A science or an art

Do you think of interior design as a science or an art? Well, it might be a quiet difficult question; but in fact a combination of both. Interior design can be defined as an applied art where creativity skills and technical knowledge provide solutions. These solutions are applied to achieve a more convenient habitat.

Interior design provides answers that are both functional and attractive and enhance the quality of life. Interior design reflects and interacts with the cultural background and traditional heritage of the occupants.

The design process itself runs through a systematic and interactive methodology to create an innovative and functional design solution whereby the needs and resources of the occupants are satisfied.

To achieve a well designed environment many elements contribute together thus innovating the overall theme e.g. color, light, texture…etc. interior design provides solutions for residential, commercial, educational, health care, office and hospitality projects consequently affecting our daily way of living or in other words; our behavior.

However interior design leans on our cultural heritage, yet it still can directly or indirectly shape our behavior and definitely it influences our reactions. For instance a room painted in red feels warm than another painted in blue! However it’s the same environment but the color which is an important design element has altered our behavior and way of thinking. The same color itself can trigger different emotions depending on its reference to either symbolic or psychological functions considering the linkages that vary with time, place and cultural background. While white color is worn at weddings and may represent purity, sterility, virginity and peace for some nations, it was the color worn at funerals for others during certain periods in history.

Another noteworthy proof of how interior design can affect our behavior is light! It has to be customized according to the function performed by the occupants. That major element can ensure and highlight a certain frame of mind! For example in a work environment an inadequate light amount would cause annoyance and discomfort. On the contrary you would enjoy a nice dinner or a romantic movie on a dimmed light.

I do believe that the relation between mass and space creates the greatest impact on human behavior. Minimalism where the work is stripped down to its most fundamental features and the subject is reduced to its necessary elements was an approach for better living environments. A cluttered habitat is definitely irritating while fine organized minimal but yet function environments promote serenity and comfort. A good design coordinating mass and space can elevate the sense of creativity and innovation.

Again cultural variations transform occupant’s vision to surrounding space. For instance a minimal designed interior seems less and for some nations less reflects poverty.

The influence of interior design on human behavior is apparent while working for instance on educational projects like nurseries where children experience a phase of mind shaping. Color, light and texture integrate together to encourage creativity. Safety is another dimension that could be enhanced.

From my point of view a global standard design code for interior environments is not applicable since occupants respond in a different way in accordance with several factors such as cultural background, social heritage or climate conditions. Interior design could effectively develop the quality of life in accordance with formerly mentioned factors; focusing on the basics of creating an ideal habitat for living.

Most people manage to open a website of their own and stack it up with products and services. At the end of the day, the thing that most websites lack is the required traffic that ultimately generates revenues for the site. There are many ways of increasing traffic in your site. Some of the methods are very expensive, while others are relatively cheaper. There are some other methods which do not require any money at all. If they are used properly, they will help you create traffic for your site.

One such method is by using the Linkedin. This is very easy to use and gives brilliant results if you can follow some simple steps. The most basic step to utilize the capability of the Linkedin is by providing the name and link of your business website in the Website Section of the Linkedin. This will ensure that people visiting your profile will end up visiting your site too.

Always keep the status message in the Linkedin updated. There you can write a few words about the things you are working on or about the products and services that you are offering. This will help you generate a lot of traffic for your website.

Use the blog link widget to the maximum effect. The blog link widget can be easily added to your Linkedin profile. This blog link automatically displays the latest blog updates and Twitter that has been posted by you. The people visiting your profile will be attracted to your twitter or blog and may end up visiting your site.

You must avoid being a silent member of Linkedin. You need to be active and visit the site regularly and update your profile too. You also need to join various groups which are relevant to your field of work. In this way you will increase the visibility of your site and also draw traffic into your site. Generally you will be required to apply to a group in order to join it. But try to select those groups only which have many members, as that will serve your purpose well.

Try to answer some of the questions that have been put forward in the Linkedin website. This is a very easy way to draw traffic into your site.

Ways to Promote Your Business Logo

Promoting a business logo is quite tough. A few of the promotional techniques are given below:

1. Good Logo Design: Make it simple and eye catching. Access professional help from a good logo design company. Once you have found the right logo designer, discuss with your designer all your general and specific needs. Keep in mind your company values and target audience to achieve positive brand-building.

2. Stationary: The next step is to select matching business stationary design, which includes business cards, letterheads and envelopes. Your logo design should be adaptable to this stationary. Since, the first impression is, more often than not, the last impression, hence take care to make it an effective and pleasurable one. Use good quality resources.

3. Logo printed t-shirts: All you need to do is to print your logo design on t-shirts, wear them or distribute them amongst your friends, relatives and colleagues. It will yield high returns in terms of brand popularization.

4. Sponsor Local Functions: Sponsorships help you to reach a wider audience. Sponsoring local school, college or youth functions exposes you to an audience that is mixed in nature, in terms of needs and traits. Print your logo design on banners and hang them wherever they can be hung! Take pictures of these banners. You can also give out logo printed t-shirts to the people and take their pictures in the logo-printed t-shirts. Use these pictures on your website, magazine, newsletter or the information brochure of your company.

5. Identify your customer: Last but certainly not the least, identify your target audience. Your logo should be designed in accordance with your target market. If you are from the corporate sector, please ensure that you use a Corporate Logo design. Spend some time to search about your target market and plan your advertising budget for this area of market. This is will ensure a higher return on your investment.

Top Tips to Promote Your Brand

Promoting your Brand is easy. Following my 10 basic business tips you can guarantee that your business and brand climbs on the shoulders of your competition and screams look at me, over here, OVER HERE! You will pull away from your competitors and leave them scratching their heads and wondering where their customers went!

1. Do Your Research

Find out what your competition is offering and how they are promoting their brand. Search on Google and find informative articles about your industry and gather ideas, concepts and websites that you feel deliver the message effectively. The idea is to keep this journal of information constantly updated and refer back to it regularly, and don’t be afraid to call the companies in question and ask them how effective their branding is.

2. Find a Reliable Partner

Find a reliable studio that has experience in developing brands. This is likely to be a long-term business partnership, so choose carefully. Bear in mind that branding in today’s day and age is very different to the pre-internet days. Now your logo and business identity has to work across a wide range of media, from print to interactive applications, and at a variety of sizes. Be sure your agency has experience in a wide range of creative disciplines, especially print and web. (Okay, it’s a shameless plug but it’s our website. So there.)

3. Be Bold

Be proactive on your brand promotion. Use whatever means you have available: word of mouth, newsletters, emails, leaflets, ads, gimmicks, press, the web, affiliates, resellers, networks, etc, etc, etc. Never stop in your pursuit to find avenues to promote your business. As the world famous marketer and showman P.T Barnum said – Without promotion something terrible happens… Nothing!

4. Be Consistent

If you have developed a brand – keep the message and ethos consistent across printed material and on your website. As customers interact with your promotional material, they must be able to instantly recognize your brand should they come across your website, or miss-spell the domain name and accidently land on your competition’s page. The customer must be able to recognize, in an instant, when they are at the right or wrong site.

5. The Power of The Internet

How things have changed with the Internet! We absolutely love it – all the information in the world at your fingertips in an instant. As great as the web is, it’s becoming a crowded place and the public expect information faster, and to get to what they want easier. A good website is just the starting point – the need to get to the top of the search engines for your industry is what every business aims for. It’s the grand prize that all search engine specialists offer, but be warned – there’s a right and wrong way to go about this and you could be wasting a lot of money for short-term results. Don’t be duped by slick sales people offering instant online results, they don’t exist. It’s a steady and meticulous process that requires time and patience, but the sooner you get started, the better your chances of getting seen by your customers. There are two avenues when approaching the search engines. There’s generic Search Engine Optimisation and Pay Per Click, both work and both require a considered approach, and ask your supplier for evidence of their effectiveness and then double-check for yourself that what they say is true. Needless to say, we build our sites to be as search engine friendly as possible.

6. Web Address

If you haven’t got a web address – It’s worth spending the time to find a good domain name, preferably containing your business name and kept as short and memorable as possible. Although it’s not vital, it is worth finding a domain name with both the .com and .co.uk extensions available. The last thing you want it someone else registering the other extension and stealing your thunder, it happens. Make sure that you put your web address on all of your promotional literature. Whenever and wherever you promote your company, be sure to promote your web address too.

7. Printed Literature

We don’t care how cost effective it is, getting cheap or even free business cards from some web printer is not a good idea. They look cheap or free and your competition has just had some 400g, matt laminated, embossed business cards made. Printing has come a very long way in recent years and high quality, full-colour printing is readily available at very reasonable prices. Although nothing is quite like Litho printed literature, digital printing is catching up very quickly and is ideal for a short print run. Don’t be afraid to try various print finishes such as embossing, spot varnish, block foil, cutting forms or experimenting with different types of papers. Your design studio and printer will be able to show you lots of examples of quality printed literature and it’s always worth spending a few extra pounds on good business stationary, as it makes the world of difference.

8. Interaction

Don’t forget your existing customers. If you have some new service or products – let them know, and ask them to let other people know. This can be done through effective email marketing – so long as you’re not annoying your customers with too-frequent email offers, a short monthly email will usually be read and will keep your customer base informed of business developments.

9. The Customer is King

Once you have a customer, treat them like royalty. Your hard work has paid off and you have a return on your investment – It’s a lot more cost-effective to get business from existing customers than constantly finding new ones! Encourage repeat business and ask for referrals and testimonials on completion of successful trades. A happy customer will tell his friends and make recommendations on your behalf, so treat them well and resolve any outstanding issues should they arise.

10. Feedback

Always ask for feedback. Use the completion of your trade as an ideal opportunity to learn about and improve your business and brand. Ask them about their shopping experience, how the website looked, what they liked about your branding, how they found you and what made them go with you in particular. Was it the price, availability, or something else? Effective feedback will ensure you have the information required to adjust and develop your brand to meet your customers’ requirements.

People interested in the interior design courses can get great design courses which can be taken through mail, over the internet or even at a local university or college. Selecting the correct interior design course that would suit you might be tricky. Few of the below tips would help you in understanding the facts and the best courses available for you.

The initial step in selecting the proper course of interior design would be to check and ensure the courses which you want are accredited federally by reputed schools. Not only that you get quality course from such schools but also it would make getting loans and grants for these courses easier. Some of the grants like Pell Grant do not at least consider the applications that do not come from accredited schools.

Let’s see how to check if a course is accredited. Meet the office of financial aid of the school or directly talk to the representative. They should be able to tell you of the accreditation of the school or what are the grants and loan codes of the school. If the schools act as if they are unaware of what ever you say then pass these for a better school.

When people plan to go back to school for the sake of interior design courses they think about going back to mortar and brick kind of school. We currently find many alternatives for people who wish to have their schedules of classes to be flexible or who wish to learn from their home. You can even find these courses being offered through email or through internet. Many of these courses allow you to study them at your speed at your convenient time. This style of flexible learning is great for people with small kids, full-time jobs, or sick relatives who would need a constant care. A Student should be able to complete the work and study whenever they get some spare time. Such courses are also good for older people who usually do not wish to share classes with people who have just passed out of their high schools.

Before you sign any of your paper work, try to collect more information regarding the course contents that are covered, if some of this would be hands-on or if its going to be a complete book learning, and do inquire about the various types of assignments that are typical. This should be the beginning for all you interior design bulkheads. Most of this information must be accessible to the students, however, if you are finding it difficult to find the answers then do talk to any of the school teachers for more information. Most of the teachers would be more than happy to talk to the potential students of interior design course.

Online Interior Design Degree – Some Simple Tips

First, be aware of the software and other technical needs that you may require throughout your program. A lot of design is now done on a computer, so make sure you have the budget and the know-how to be able to purchase and manipulate the programs. Second, be sure you have basic equipment like a drafting table and a relatively good camera. With this equipment you may be able to get by in course requirements. Third, try to sign up for online seminars on interior design. Learn more about designing concepts outside of what you read from books.

Fourth, be prepared to do assignments outside of your home. Online programs may keep you in your home to attend online lectures and to do research, but assignments may require you to go out and study actual design concepts in application. Fifth, make sure your portfolio is updated and visible to your classmates and your instructor. This way you can receive constructive criticism to help you improve your design style and approach.

Distance learning education courses offer enormous opportunities to people today. Distance learning coupled with various options of online courses is making it easier, for a large section of the society to gain knowledge about something new. Online courses are especially making it easier for busy people to study further.

In the competitive job market, distance education is considered to be a smart investment for future. Distance education courses offer to teach things such as art, fundamental computer skills, different types of languages and interior designing.

The first logical step towards building a profession in interior designing is to gain knowledge of the tools of the trade. It is important to choose a reputed school to learn the skill, or people can also enroll for a distance education program. In the present era, students can earn both Associate and Bachelors Degrees in interior design. Moreover they can also get diplomas for selecting special areas, for instances kitchen interior designing. Classes that prepare students for interior design are normally inclusive of basic drawing techniques, basic design, manual drafting, ADA, building codes, CAD, and the basics of color.

Student Mum

Work experience helps students to build a portfolio to present to future employers. Once people have found an interior design job, it is crucial to keep working on the portfolio, and network in the industry. Many people have the opinion that an online education, is not of the same quality as traditional education. Online computer courses have innumerable topics, and it is also easy to find colleges and universities that offer degrees or specific courses online
// ]]>

There are many advantages to pursuing a degree through distance education. People can study at the pace they want to. However, it is always advisable to be sure that the online university is accredited, and that the online credits will be recognized in the chosen industry or career field.

Interior design may be characterized as a special art pertaining to the furnishing and enrichment of the interior of a building. The specific training in this field must include a thorough knowledge of the history, aesthetic value and use of various arts, crafts and sciences of the building environment such as covering furniture, textiles, floor and wall furnishings, paint and color, as well as metalwork and lighting.

A good bachelor degree in interior design would include IBL (industry based learning) as part of the curriculum. This hands-on training basically takes three months to experience real life work involvement in a design studio.

Upon graduation, students enroll on a job with confidence through their earlier experiences. They usually work with their peers, prepare drawings and from time to time visit sites. The translation of design to construction is usually the work of an interior designer.

Interior design is an activity that is able to create environments that create delight for their users as well as being functionally appropriate. In professional practice, individuals working as sole practitioners through various types of partnerships to large multidisciplinary teams may create such environments in a wide range of conditions.

Like architecture, interior design encompasses both art and science that means its study is necessarily broad in scope. An interior design bachelor degree course involves both practice and theory of these aspects to generate a learning environment in which the individual can develop, test skills and understanding in which current issues can be explored.

interior design

An interior design bachelor degree course also provides a foundation to the professional world of interior design practice. The interiors of retail outlets, offices and institutions, leisure and entertainment cafés, cultural halls and food and beverage haunts are all part of the course.

Exhibition design, graphics, signage and various areas of furniture design would also be covered on the course. The framework of the course includes a knowledge and understanding of design and social history of economics and environmental determinants. The course would include communication and presentation as well.

Basically, what does an interior designer do? An interior designer:

- Gives advice on planning and reorganizing of internal spaces. The designer makes sketches, utilizes space, prepares comprehensive color charts and compiles samples of materials for all rooms to be renovated.

- Gives advice and assistance in the selection of fabrics, color matching, furniture, storage and how to make the best use of space. He calls for tenders from builders, decorators, upholsterers and electrical contractors.

- Organizes and supervises work on site. The interior designer will check the progress of the project and assess the quality and standard of work done.

Some interior designers prefer to work alone or with a few staff as they like the total involvement and control of each job. They often enjoy a great variety of work. Interior designers are not always trained in building design but may acquire the necessary skills through practice. They are able to organize internal space and have the visual skill as well as imagination to make an exciting and comfortable interior.

Consider that such things as floor plans, space planning, computer links, government and building codes all have to meet with approval. The design concept may be adjusted and refined several times over. The designer may be working 12-hour days in the crunch to meet the project deadlines. It should not matter whether it involves a small corporate job, or a major corporation, the need for integrity remains the same. A highly qualified interior designer will make every effort provide the best services to complete the job.

Aegon entrance

Corporate interior design projects usually come about by word of mouth. In order for a designer to succeed in the corporate interior design field, he or she will have to provide quality service with integrity that is expected or their business may not last for long.

When the final concept meets approval, then furnishings and other materials can be ordered, the technicians will be hired and the work can be scheduled. It is important that the design goals of the client be given top priority in every aspect of the project from beginning to end. Additionally, ADA requirements, building codes and building standards must all be adhered to during the project. It is a matter of integrity to respect and meet deadlines, the continuity of the work environment and budgetary constraints.

Panel detail

It is also important that the choice of an interior designer is one who is experienced and knowledgeable in corporate Interior Designing. It doesn’t matter if it is a major design firm or a single designer, as long as the proper credentials and references are in place to support their experience. It may be simpler to work with a single designer, since they will be hands-on in every aspect of the design concept. Corporate interior design is certainly not the easiest of area of interior design, but with experience and knowledge a good interior designer can bring quality, ingenuity and solid customer service to the project.

Like our home, our office or workplace is an important part of our life. There can be little denial of the fact that we spend a major portion of our lifetime in the office.

Based on this observation, you will be able to contemplate how to improve the facilities and design of the office. The concept of the home office is gaining popularity, with more and more people choosing to work from home.

* The cost of submitting links to the two most prestigious directories on the internet are outrageous: The cost of a single Yahoo Directory link is $300 per year. The cost of a listing on BOTW.org is $79.95/year. In both cases – that’s only for one deep link, with an average page rank of only 1 or 2. In my experiences, both have been a completely wasted investment. Beyond some possible credibility from search engines, you’ll never get a visible boost in search engine rankings from either service, nor will you get a page 1 or 2 listing for a keyword. The traffic you’ll receive from these directories are virtually non-existent (who uses directories to find websites, anyway?)
* The average cost of directory submission software: $99… for backlinks on PR N/A, PR 0 and PR 1 pages from privately-owned web directories that get no visibility on any major search engines. And, you STILL have to submit manually – the software just makes it marginally easier to do, but is still not fool-proof.
* The average cost of manual directory submission services: $15-20 for 100 back links to privately owned, no traffic/no visibility directories (and the fact that the submitter you’re hiring will be seeing your niche, keywords and content, and may very well compete with you at some point in the future).
* Google AdWords -If you’re a corporation, spending $200/day is not a problem. If you’re an individual, $200/day is probably twice your pre-tax full time salary! There’s no doubt that you have to “spend more to get more” on AdWords for that Google page 1 position. You can’t compete with a small business as an individual…let alone a Fortune 500 company! USFreeAds Premium gives you the opportunity to get this done in natural searches, with unlimited articles, HTML capabilities, PayPal buttons and more!

When it comes to architecture and interior design, award-winning professional interior designer Russell Versaci says it is all about the “Eight Pillars of Design,” which are: invent within the rules; respect the character of the place; tell a story over time; build for the ages; detail for authenticity; craft with natural materials; create the patina of age; and incorporate modern conveniences. So what does Versaci mean by “follow the rules?” He says that custom designs can often stem from studious tradition, so it is good to use the past as a guideline.

Design 1

Design 2

Design 3

Design 4

You “respect its character” by working with the surrounding land and topography, rather than cutting down all the trees and leveling hills. To “tell a story,” architects can create a storyboard of past additions to envision what innovative designs made it what it is today. To “build for the ages,” high quality building materials should be used. Molding, roofing, windows and details should follow the old character of the house to “detail for authenticity.”

Materials like wood, stone and pine have a vibe that synthetic materials just can’t match, Versaci adds, which is what he means by “natural materials.” To “create the patina of age,” it’s okay to leave some elements of the home old and weathered or vintage-looking; weathered bricks, salvaged mantles or antique door knobs, for instance. Lastly, the home should be outfitted with modern heating, plumbing, air conditioning, computer wiring, hidden control panels and security systems.

Award-winning interior design company Fougeron Architecture understands Russell Versaci’s ideas about architecture interior design perfectly. In San Francisco, he renovated a dark warehouse office complex into a light, breezy, modern office building. To keep with the existing neighborhood, he added a glass penthouse, used high-quality building materials and built up vertically. Although, unlike his neighbors, he did so by blending private and public space by using see-through dividers, by creating a communal rooftop environment and by building around natural light. The jury felt this upgrade was one of the best contemporary designs they had seen.

Architecture interior design is an ever-evolving study. Consumers are currently looking for homes that make better use of space, that offer open main floor plans for family interaction but separated by bedroom wings for privacy. Bathroom design is leaning toward creating home spas with whirlpools, dual-head shower stalls, double vanities and saunas. Innovative designs for kitchens almost always add a utilitarian chef’s nook or breakfast bar. Living rooms make use of large windows, high ceilings and unexpected colors. The future points toward innovative designs.

An effective decoration of a room largely depends on its size and shape and mainly the purpose for which it is going to be used. Living room beautification can be either a simple job or a complicated one depending on the people that are going to use it. Simple if it is going to be empty for most of the time except when the family is at home; complicated if a lot of entertainment is going to take place. But that does not mean that it should not be the opposite also. It largely depends on the person who is going to decorate it. Another complication would be if a constant stream of children and pets were going to be traversing the room.

Living room decorating ideas evolve and change from year to year and is sometimes set by the leading interior decorators. But it is best to look at what they have to offer and go by your instincts. It is “your” living room. And the choice of colors and accessories so wide that it is fairly impossible to get to know them. Understand what the primary, the secondary and the tertiary colors are, the color wheel and the basic principles of mixing them and you can come up with shades that could better the display in a paint store.

Blue is the most preferred color. Think of blue and the first thing that comes to your mind is the blue sky or the blue sea that instills a sense of serenity and tranquility to your mind; and a living room is just where such an atmosphere should prevail. It is left to your creativeness, your imagination and your ingenuity as to how you decorate your living room. Close your eyes and imagine what kind f environment you would like to come to and plan your décor accordingly. Once you have settled on the colors for the walls and the ceiling, think of the colors for the doorways and the windows. Proceed step by step. Next comes the furniture, which should complement the color scheme and finally comes the accessories like the mirrors, the carpets, the flower vases and the flowers etc.

// ]]> Italian leather sofas command a premium price in the market because of the quality of the materials used in making it, specifically the full grain leather for its covering. Wood used for most designer sofa frames is kiln-dried where the wood is heated in a drying oven to remove excess sap and moisture. This process is aimed at decreasing the tendency of the wood to swell when it absorbs moisture. Drying it in a kiln also prevents the frame from shrinking or rotting.

Black Sectional Corner Sofa

// ]]> Once the frame is finished, sinuous springs and eight-way hand tied springs are installed -these kinds of springs move up and down and from side to side giving the whole deck of the designer sofa a wider range of movement. This system results to very comfortable sitting for the person who has the luxury to buy it. Craftsmen tie these springs individually making the designer sofa cost more because of the time, effort and craftsmanship needed to create them. After installing the springs, a designer sofa now goes through the fitting of the pads or cushions. Most of the cushions used are made out of high-density foam core that is then covered with soft polyester preventing the pads from sagging. Dacron is also used to add pliability to the cushions so that the pillows and seats can maintain their shape. The cushions and pillows are of course sewn into cotton cases to guarantee smooth upholstering. The sewing for most high quality designer sofas is double hand stitching; another reason why a designer sofa could cost you a whopping $5000.

Black Sectional Sofa

Once the upholstery is finished, the leather covering is then laid and sewn, wrapping the whole of the product. Genuine leather is the best choice because it is tough and durable. Designer sofa craftsmen however only use Italian leather because it is the softest and finest leather in the world. Produced from raw hide of ostriches, Italian leather is more durable than any other leather out in the market. Italian leather does not only endure the rigors of time but it also gains a beautiful, natural sheen as it gets older. Most traditional leather in the world is manufactured from cow hide while Italian leather is most often made out of ostrich raw hide. Raw ostrich hide is full grain leather which no longer needs sanding to remove blemishes or imperfections. Italian leather is much softer than any other type of leather making it synonymous to quality. For this reason, Italian leather is the premiere choice for the most elegant and most luxurious of designer sofas. Buying an Italian leather corner sofa would be the best choice anyone could make. It does not only stay in a beautiful condition in a much longer period of time but it is also a magnificent piece that you could add in your home.

When you’re a parent, it seems like your job never ends. You start your day by getting your household up and moving, heading out the door with seconds to spare, going to work, picking up the kids, and falling into bed at night to sneak in a few hours of shut eye before it starts all over again. Just talking about it seems exhausting!

So maybe that’s why the Master Bedroom is becoming such an essential part of the modern home. New homes are incorporating never-before-seen touches to turn mom and dad’s room into a private retreat away from the hustle and bustle of everyday life. From private, spa-like baths, to well-organized walk-in closets, designers are recognizing that the heads of household deserve a place all their own to relax and recharge.

Master Bedroom

Whether you’re building a home, considering a remodel to create a Master Suite, or just looking for some ways to modernize your little corner of the house, here are a few ways you can create a sanctuary in the midst of chaos.

Incorporating a private bath

A hot trend in home building right now makes sure parents aren’t tripping over Junior’s step stool or fighting for sink space in their rush to make it out the door in the mornings. Instead, mom and dad simply walk a few steps into their private bath where spa-like features such as a separate shower and jetted tub create an easy start to the day. Touches like dual shower heads and his-and-hers sinks allow room for everyone, even when you both have to be out the door at the same time. Small details like decorative tile inlays and granite vanities elevate these spaces from being just a bathroom to something akin to a high-end spa.

Luxury Bath Room

If there isn’t room in your home or your budget to create a bath like this, consider changing out your standard shower curtain rod for a curved shower rod. Available online or at many big-box home improvement stores, a curved shower rod is a quick and inexpensive way to add elbow room to your existing shower, making it feel just a bit roomier.

Taking a cue from your favorite hotel

Ever notice how many hotels place a coffeemaker in their suite’s bathrooms? That’s because the pros know that few grown-ups can truly start their day without a jolt of java. To bring this experience home, many re modelers are making special spaces for coffee and espresso machines right in the Master Suite. All it takes is installing a small counter top with room for the coffeemaker, a few cups, and maybe even a small refrigerator below the counter top to keep milk or cream chilled.

Luxury Hotel Bath Room

You can even upgrade your private coffee bar to include room for a water line to the espresso machine. This way, you can get the coffee going and enjoy it the moment you’re out of the shower. At night, oenophiles may also utilize this same space to chill a bottle of wine and relax the pressures of the day away.

Color your world

One of the simplest and perhaps most important choices for a Master Suite is the color palette. If you want to continue the spa-like feel promoted in the master bath, choose soothing earth tones like deep greens and browns. These colors are known to create a sense of harmony and wellbeing and will put your mind in the mood to relax for a peaceful night’s rest.

Before you begin your Master Suite transformation, take time to think about and write down colors that mean something to you. Perhaps you feel more energized with bolder, brighter colors and want to use them to help you jump start each day. Whether you’re planning a full remodel or just looking for an update, color is a vitally important aspect for helping your new space come to life.

Bring good things to light

Lighting is another detail that can give you a lot of freedom when planning your Master Suite. You can create a lighting plan based on the individual areas of the suite and tailor each style of lighting to fit a particular function. For example, you’ll want brighter lighting in the closet and bathroom to aid in dressing and grooming, but the more restful areas of the room call for softness.

Track and can lighting are both still popular trends with re modelers and both can utilize a dimmer to brighten or soften the light to suit your mood. Decorative lamps on either side of the bed also bring in a sense of style and create a perfect space for bedtime reading.

Don’t forget to include window treatments when deciding on your Master Suite’s lighting scheme. If you like to sleep in or need total darkness to sleep deeply, a set of blackout curtains might do the trick. On the other hand, if you love waking up with the sun, consider lighter colored draperies and sheers.

YOUR CUSTOMIZED HOTEL ROOM

I came upon an interesting post that got me thinking about the future of hotel design — and hospital architecture…

Chris Brogan, a social media expert, describes his ideas in this post: Ideas for Hotels and Hospitality. He merges his knowledge of social networking with making efficient use of time during his hotel stays — his ideas seem to revolve around productivity, comfort and individual preferences. I’m especially intrigued by the notion of putting your specific hotel preferences into a “system”. That way, your hotel has your customized room ready and waiting to suit your needs. Brogan does a nice job of listing such preferential hotel amenities, but how can we take these ideas a step further — as they relate to architecture? HOSPITALS HAVE A LOT TO LEARN Did you know that hotels are sometimes also used for post-operative recovery? It seems that staying in a hotel gives patients certain personalized comforts that a hospital does not. (Notice that I didn’t say cannot.)

Hotel Room Design

Hospital designers can actually learn a lot from hotel designers. Hotels offer a better ambiance for different moods, designated spaces for visitors/family to stay and a wide selection of room services to choose from — and these are just a few of the hotel amenities that hospitals can incorporate. < Trends in hospital design today should lean toward the better integration of nature, color and information management. It is my hope that as hotels evolve to better satisfy their clientele, hospital designers will be paying attention. WHAT DO YOU THINK? Just imagine what can happen when you begin to apply certain interactive features found in innovative architectural design. Hospitals can really improve…for that matter, so can hotels.

5 Ways Hospital Design Influences Patient Health

It is no secret that hospital patients are influenced by their surroundings. Hospital design directly impacts patient health – in more ways than one might think. Today hospital designers are trying to evolve hospitals beyond their infamously sterile décor. Care is being taken to use color, nature and wayfinding to ease a patient’s hospital stay. The following are five ways hospital design influences patient health – where care should be taken to improve patient recovery.

1) SENSE OF PLACE:
In the paper, Is there a Psychologist in the Building by Christian Jarrett, hospital layout is listed as quite an important factor for patients. Going beyond simple signage, hospital patients should be able to have a sense of their location without ever feeling lost. It has been found that having a sense of place helps keep patient stress levels down.(1)

2) PRIVATE ROOMS:
Also important to hospital design is the frequency of private rooms in a hospital. Providing private rooms reduces medication error and falling instances.(1) I’m sure you can imagine that private rooms also make for better visiting with patients and their loved ones.

3) NATURE + ARTWORK:
Hospitals that include nature and artwork are providing for more positive patient experiences. Both nature and artwork contribute to patients having a greater “sense of well-being” where spaces lend themselves toward contemplation and feeding the senses.(1)

4) NOISE:
A major problem within hospitals today is noise. Often patients cannot sleep through the night as medical carts screech through the halls and doors open and close. Hospital designers should pay greater attention to acoustics within hospitals as noisy environments generate more stress for patients. Also, sleep is critical for patient recovery.

5) COLOR:
Use of color in hospital design has a multitude of uses. Color can help patients have a sense of orientation – where color is used to give different hospital areas a sense of place. Also, color has been known to be associated with mood. Using the right colors in waiting areas, examination rooms, hallways or patient private rooms can have a definite affect on patient motivation and stress levels.

All in all, progress is being made to design better hospitals. Much study and research is now underway to more completely understand what patients truly need. So often, it is the patient that never gets their needs heard during the design process. For this reason it is nice to know that healthcare design is now getting more attention and making improved headway.
